This is an intensive exploration on the teaching materials of the unit concerning "Characteristics of Water Solutions" in the "Natural Science" course for students in Grade 6 at elementary school in Japan. The teaching materials are well noticed for the following features: ideally designed in such a manner that the teaching activities put pupils into direct contact with the nature; and are especially aiming at the following goals. The goals cover: cultivating recognition of the nature among the pupils; building up the knowledge of the nature and furthermore the concept of natural environment protection; and reinforcing the pupils' ability in information and data collection. Therefore, it is advisable to offer such teaching materials as reference to the researchers, experts and school teachers who are concentrating on "Natural Science" teaching in elementary schools in Taiwan. At a result, with this exploration, three proposals are given as follows: (1) Teaching materials should be diversified, and teaching methods should be pupil-oriented. (2) Teaching materials should be realistic and day-to-day living based, and not be confined within any subjects. (3) Teacher's manual should be enriched with sufficient information and references for the concerned parties to consult.
