本文之目的旨在說明SGML在電子出版上的應用，文中首先指出SGML在電子出版系
統演進中被使用的必然性； 其次探討 SGML 之特性、系統環境、應用情況、與 WWW 的結合
等課題。

The objective of this article is to explain the application of SGML in
electronic publishing. First we point out the necessity of using SGML in the
evolution of electronic publishing and then we discuss the feature of SGML, its
system environment, its present status of application and its merging with WWW.
