MENG-CHANG CHUN in Chi, PING-YUAN CHUN in Chao, HSIN-LING CHUN in Wei, and CHUN-SHEN CHUN in Chu, are called THE FOUR GENTLEMEN IN WARRING STATES. One of their common characteristics was that they all were hospitable and fond of scholars. Besides, there were hangers-on for them all each up to three thousand in their residences. "Maintain an army for a thousand days to use it in the moment of truth." This is the purpose of raising the scholars. Whether these scholar guests, liked to follow them and even repay them as being a sacrifice or not, depended on how their masters treated them as an offical scholar. Therefore, comparison between the two ways, the attitude of raising scholars and the dependent-advisors' repayment can conclude the good or the bad for the four gentlement. The comment is hereby made in the two aspects mentioned above and concludes that the good or the bad for the four gentlement in order which are Hsin-ling chun, Ping-yuan chum, Meng-changchun, and Chun-shen chun.
