Investigations were conducted regarding subjective evaluation of acoustical environments in Auditoria. Emphases were placed upon instantaneous responses of how people hear and what they like to listen to musical performances. Evaluation of music sounds were made during rehearsals of symphony orchestra in four major auditoria in Taiwan. The gathered data were used to analyze the relationships among subjective attributes and the influence of secondary factors such as visual quality and quality of performance. Based on data from the four auditoria, overall acousitcal impression was found to be significantly (lrl >0.298) correlated with clarity, intimacy, source width, and sound localization while the four attributes as described were inter-correlated with one another. The secondary factors which were found to be correlated with overall impression are visual impression, quality of performance, taste for music piece(r>0.390) . The relation between overall acoustical impression and reverberance was not so significant(r=0.234) as indicated by Barron.
