The purpose of this project was to establish a patient education standard and evaluation for patients walking with crutches, based on the process of continuos quality improvement. First , the data about current situations was analyzed and problems were identified. An effective teaching method, crutches walking information, and crutches walking nursing standards were implemented and evaluated. Subjects were chosen from a medical center in metropolitan Taipei, Taiwan. Total sample size was 270. Descriptive analysis t-test , and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze collected deta. The findings indicated that knowledge and skill of crutches walking had significantly improved. Based on the project findings, a well-planed teaching program for patients with crutches walking is recommended.
