This research aims at investigating the translation skills of published German-to-Chinese translated works. The comparative analyese are conducted within three focuses: context comparison between German and Chinese languages, different Chinese translation versions of identical original sources and the categorization of the examples. From the original language to the targeted language, translation is considered as a complicated subject, because it has to deal with syntax analysis, linguistic pragmatics, textlinguistics, rhetoric, logic as well as philosophy and aesthetics. The materials studied here are chosen from published books, literature works, newspaper articles and magazines. Throughout the analyses of the German and Chinese contexts, numerous syntactical techniques will be assessed. Examining different translated versions of the same source will enable us to induce various rhetoric skills. In addition to that, the examples themselves reveal different translation genres. Consequently, within the three main scopes of its study, this paper wil provide translators some basic principles and solutions in dealing with certain challenges in German-Chinese translation.
