在資訊化的時代裡，資訊傳播的現況，人們總以資訊氾濫或爆炸來形容媒體種類 及其內容的多樣化。因此，如何統整傳播策略、取捨適用媒體，乃成為資訊時代傳播的首要 課題。本文在探討現代資訊傳播的現況及多媒體的特性和人類文化及思惟模式間的關係，進 而尋找出一種現階段適用的媒體，以有效的用於人類文化傳承。雅美人獨特的海洋文化成為 本多媒體節目的最佳案例，而唯讀光碟片（CD-ROM）正是符合目前需求的理想媒體。

　　　　　The main goal of this project was to let people everywhere find an easily available and usable media form to learn more about who and what the Yami people are? Where do they live? And how? What is their environment? What wisdom have they acquired through living in an inhospitable environment? What artistic literacy do they possess? What specific problems or hazards do they face at this time? This program became an interactive story book or journal about this small group of people.Simple to navigate,it fits the new information age communication strategy.Its content was shown in a multimedia form:interactive,nonlinear,and utilizing the Macromedia Director to integrate its content.
