　　十九世紀以來出版之酸性紙印刷品，因紙張容易劣化，一部分已開始脆毀，而有些圖書館以保存幾百幾千年之人類文化累積之記錄為由，已開始拍攝成微縮媒體；也對原件資料以敘述、解析書目法，甚至使用博物館的檔案管理法，記錄出版物本身的文化，做為圖書史之資料。同時，微縮媒體化後的原件資料也盡量原型保存，等待更好的保存法。更且，還提供給讀者使用，滿足圖書館的收藏及利用之功能。本篇以日本早稻田圖書館之明治期資料微縮媒體化計畫作為主例，從實際工作看保存及利用之問題。
　　Since the nineteenth century, acidic paper is used for publishing; today, such the paper of the books in libraries has deteriorated to the state of weak and brittle. The record of human knowledge accumulated for hundreds and thousands years may disappear with these books. Some libraries have already chosen the method of preservation microfilming. Simultaneously, the librarian records current condition of the books with detailed descriptive and analytical cataloging method, as well, as documenting the book as a museum artifact. After the transferring to microfiche, the original material is to be stored with phased preservation method for better preservation method expecting to develop in the future; also, for continual use which satisfies the basic service of the library. This paper takes the project of Preservation Microfilming at the Waseda University Library as an example to see the practical elements of transferring the material to microfiche.
