The purposes of this study are comparing the function between the different tennis surfaces, and providing the understandings and suggestions for coaches, athletes and managers. A new-designed equipment were used to exam the cushioning, energy return and friction abilities for sport surfaces. The results showed the friction and cushioning abilities of the artificial grass was the highest in the five different tennis surfaces (concrete, red sand, PU, Jefco and artificial grass), and the PU had better energy return ability in all material, but if we put the sport shoes on the surfaces, the results would be different. The factors of sport surface was not only the surface materials, but also the function of sport shoes.
