題名:物理教科書蘊涵的科學發展模式之探討

     本文的主要目的是考察大學科學(物理)教科書(textbooks)的編輯和內容結構, 以便探詢教科書中是否蘊涵了某種科學發展模式﹖這種蘊涵在教科書中的科學發展模式最接 近哪一個科學哲學家所提出的科學歷史發展模式﹖我們的結論是教科書蘊涵了一幅接近庫恩 (Kuhn) 所描繪的「常態科學式」圖像:科學活動的發展是一種歸納知識的累積, 今天我們 已經累積了許多可靠、權威性的科學知識,日後科學的一切活動即是不斷地在既成的寶塔上 進展。而科學家之所以能達到這個目標,是由於他們對現象進行中立、客觀的觀察,一方面 從觀察中歸納出現象背後的原理;另方面從測量性觀察中我們也能檢驗應用權威理論而設計 的實驗問題。並將所得數據和理論計算數值做比較,以便找出變因,排除誤差,達到更精確 的地步。後繼的理論並不是用來拒絕先行理論,只是改善了先行理論的精確程度和應用廣度 ,後繼理論的出現限制了先行理論的適用範圍,但兩者都是整個科學知識大廈的基石,在它 們的基礎上,科學能夠進一步地發展。
