Streets became the most important types of public space in Taiwan, since most city lack of public facilities. However, the street livability has declined rapidly in recent years, and people were unconscious of alienating from the street. According to the perspective of ontological thinking, we developed two concepts:‘the typological crisis’ and ‘the morphological puzzle’ to analysis the situation in which the streets were. As an important type of city space, the development of street confronted the typological crisis and the designers who tried to deal with the problems was perplexed in the morphological puzzle. This paper takes its impetus from the ontological insights of Martin Heidegger on the spatiality of Being and Christian Norberg-Schulz's theory on the language of architecture, trying to redevelop typology and morphology ontologically. Base on the new concepts, we interpret the endeavor of the people who struggling against the death of the street, and then express the urgency and the way to remake the street place in cities of Taiwan.
