　　　　　我國有關圖書館之經費雖由教育部、廳、局所統籌，惟各級圖書館業務之督導卻 分屬不同行政部門，以致難免有不易協調的情事。有鑑於此，教育部圖書館事業委員會建議參 考美國，於總統之下，設置「全國圖書館暨資訊科學委員會」，籌設跨部會層級之「圖書館事 業發展委員會」，以進行決策與協調之工作。本文擬從美國圖書館與資訊科學委員會之歷史發 展、任務、成果談起，探討我國未來圖書館事業專責委員會之設置，盼能引發國人對此議題 的重視。
　　　　　Under the Public Law 91-345 and Library Services and Technology Act, the US National Commission on Libraries and Information Services (NCLIS) assumes the role of advising American Government on general policy related to financial assistance for library and information services. This paper aimed to find out the mission and achievement of both the Commission and the Committee of Library Development, Ministry of Education in Taiwan. Differences were compared and suggestions were made for further improvement.
