本文以《設計的歧視》一書中文譯本為基礎進行評介。第一部份，討論該書的寫作策略，包括了女性主義視野的寫作企圖、由女性的日常生活空間經驗切入、凸顯女性空間政治的意涵，以及女性主體性在此動態過程中的建立。第二部分摘要討論本書的內容與結構，並以由此延伸出兩個女性主義論述的重要的課題，分別是威斯曼對於唯智中心論的批判，以及女性主義觀點認識論對於社會行動的提示。至於從空間實踐的層次來思考，該書的重要識見尚包含的女性如何從經驗個案中找尋改革的力量、如何累積台灣的本土經驗挑戰社會的空間階層體系等等，最後，我認為威斯曼文中所隱含的美國中心論述的假設，不僅可能以其潛藏之統整性盲點，忽略女性之間的差異，也忽略了女性的身體與情慾經驗。

　　　　　Based on the Chinese version of Leslie Kanes Weisman's Discrimination by Design, this review article focus on some writing strategies about the built environment and feminist politics, especially the process of social formation of female subjectivity. In terms of spatial practice, Weisman does remind us the importance of consciousness raising and experience sharing between different women, and what this means to Taiwanese party.
