西方人類學干旱災害研究主要討論基于人類學學科視角的干旱災害定義、起因與后果,分析因干旱災害而導致的沖突、饑荒、難民等社會問題,探索不同地區、不同文化背景的干旱災害應對方式。干旱災害與其他類型的災害一樣,很大程度上是一種文化現象,是社會文化構建的產物。干旱災害的人類學解釋框架涉及內容廣泛,具有跨學科性質的環境和社會脆弱性、生態韌性等理論也得到重視。干旱災害的跨文化比較研究和應用人類學研究體現出多學科合作的優勢。

Western anthropologists mainly discuss the definition of drought disaster,its causes and impacts according to the perspective of anthropology,and analyze social issues such as conflicts,famine and refugees resulted from drought disaster,and explore responses to the drought disaster in different regions and cultural backgrounds.like many other types of disasters,drought disaster is a cultural phenomenon to a great extent.It is a product of social and cultural construction.The framework of theoretical explanation on drought disaster covers many topics. Some interdisciplinary theories including environmental vulnerability and ecological resilience are also emphasized by western anthropologists.Crosscultural comparative study and applied anthropology on drought disaster reveal the advantage of multi-disciplinary cooperation.
