Mohan village in China and its neighboring village Boten in Laos are separated by the boundary but now connected by a channel,Kunming-Bangkok International Road.In the historical stratification,as a form of’interruption’and’difference’,the border between Mohan and Boten has successively revealed features of vagueness, latency and prominence. As a mean of’linkage’and’continuation’,the channel cross Mohan and Boten also includes attributions of social culture, international politics and global economics. The crossover between channel and border in Mohan and Boten results into ports, and embraces meaning of junction point and medium. The construction and operation of Kunming-Bangkok International Road have totally transformed the local features of Mohan and Boten, and made them important nodes of the global network. The anthropological study of national borders, international channel and the nodes of global network will drive us to redefine the concept of’center’.
