<正>元傳播(metacommunication)的"元"(meta),源於希臘語"μετα’"。作為前綴,"meta"一般表示時間序列的"後"(post,after),但其置於抽象概念之前,則表示該概念的進一步抽象,即"關於"(about)。根據這一構詞法,美國社會科學家格裡高利•貝特森(Gregory Bateson)於1951年創造了"元傳播"一詞,用以指稱人際互動中"關於傳播的傳播"現象,也即"所有被交換的涉及編碼(codification)及傳播者之間相互關係的線索和命題。"[1]這是貝特森對元傳播概念的貢獻。保羅•瓦
