楊憲益-戴乃迭《紅樓夢》英文節譯本于1986年首次出版,對于《紅樓夢》的海外傳播有所裨益。本文從描寫譯學的視角探討該節譯本,描寫譯本特點、解釋譯本成因并揭示流傳與接受情況。本文認為,楊憲益-戴乃迭《紅樓夢》英文節譯本雖然存在明顯缺點,難比庫恩德文譯本之英文轉譯本及王際真英文節譯本,但事實上在英語世界具有一定影響,不無歷史價值。
