Reading materials are the premise of reading.This paper makes a study on reading materials of four-tosix-year-old preschool children in Guangzhou City,aiming to be helpful for the cultivation of preschool children’s good reading habits in the future.Questionnaires are distributed among such preschool children’s parents,and interviews are carried out with their teachers.Based on an analysis of the data,it is found out that there are no authoritative documents to guide kindergartens to buy reading materials,and both parents and teachers have doubts about whether electronic books are conducive to children’s physical and mental development.Besides,there is a lack of comprehensive feedback and evaluation mechanism for children’s reading,and reading promotion has not been implemented in kindergartens.Therefore,it is proposed that kindergartens and libraries should cooperate in guiding preschool children’s reading,the evaluation system for preschool children’s reading should be improved,parents should play an active part in preschool children’s reading.Besides,education authorities should make policies to support reading promotion among preschool children,establish a supervision mechanism,and allocate reading materials rationally among kindergartens.
