This paper attempts to probe the cognitive value of Philippe Sollers’ s experimental novel H from the perspective of semiotics. The paper argues that with its removal of punctuations, sentences and paragraphs, its introduction of the "signifier" into a galactic space, and its elimination of the center, the subject and meaning, the novel enables the reader to thoroughly and affectively experience a world of narrative without the narrator.
