Plato referred that Socrates fought three battles, one in Potidaea, one in Amphipolis and another in Delium, but it’s doubted, even denied by Athenaeus,a later writer in the early Roman Empire. Athenaeus sought to challenge philosophy by criticizing philosophers. However,he was not convincing owning to some mistakes in his argument. Basically,Plato’s description was accurate, but it remained to be queried in some details due to his favouritism toward Socrates.
