In this paper,important literature on the disciplinary construction and theoretical framework of rare books’ preservation and conservation are collected,re-organized,and analyzed.It not only discusses some key topics in the disciplinary construction of rare books’ preservation and conservation,such as the disciplinary title,disciplinary attributes,current theoretical system,pathways of disciplinary construction,and current preparations,but also analyzes the status quo of talent cultivation for rare books’ preservation and conservation,focusing on the curriculum settings,training methods and strategies,different levels of education,and system of professional qualifications.It is found out that the necessity of the disciplinary construction of rare books’ preservation and conservation has been widely recognized,though its academic positioning is still controversial;its current theoretical framework needs to be further developed and extended,and its core contents need to be clarified;its current disciplinary construction should rely on Library and Information Science,and greater importance should be attached to its talent cultivation.
