21世紀以來，在對民俗學學術史進行了認真的反思并形成了自反性的共識之后，國際民俗學界傾向于把"遺產化"看作一種歷史性的、社會性的文化實踐，認為"遺產化"具有相當久遠的"傳統"。在《保護非物質文化遺產公約》被廣泛推行之后，具有自反性意識的民俗學家更加關注圍繞著特定的非物質文化遺產其相關利益群體之間互動的具體過程，尤其關注"遺產化"過程中可能形成的社會交流模式與增進理解的可能性途徑。國際民俗學認為"遺產化"的文化實踐已經成為后現代社會生活世界普遍的行為模式，民俗學必須相應地反思與調整自身的研究策略。
Since the 21 th century,after seriously rethinking about the history of folkloristics and reaching reflexive consensus,the international folkloristic society was inclined to regard heritagisation as a kind of historical,social cultural practice,and also view heritagisation as having a long history.With the widespread practice of The Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage,the reflexive folklorists are paying more attention to the interactional process between special ICH and the relevant interest groups,especially to the social communication model possibly formed in the process of heritagisation and the possible way of promoting a better understanding.It is regarded by international folkloristic circle that the cultural practice of heritagisation has become the popular behavior model in the post-modern world of life,and the folkloristics has to rethink about and adjust its research strategies accordingly.
