Abstract
It is quite demanding to get hold of a parking spot during a certain period of time in the downtown area of the major cities around the world. Because of the lack of knowing whereabouts the available parking site is, vehicles then cruise around the streets searching. As a result, more of the exhaust gas is released to the atmosphere, which in turn affect our health and the quality of life. Therefore, it is needed to have a “navigation system” for the city traffic to function effectively.
This research employs a patented technology of a parking lot navigation system. With the network technology and the methodology used in the main path, the direction of development in the future is predicted. Two major observations are found in this study:
Firstly, the earlier navigation systems show that four major groups of vehicle technology: “car-finding”, “navigation system”, “RFID”, and “navigation dynamics” were in the previous key technological development path. Interestingly, results predict that the patent of “navigation dynamics” will become the key trend of the four groups for next-generation vehicle developments.
The result also shows that the next-generation navigation system will be progressive toward incorporating with electrical carriers for a more environmental-friendly, safer autonomous car. Additionally, a more economical-efficient sharing business model and smart grid that coupled with green energy can further contribute to the urban development solution towards an advanced sustainable future.
