所謂「新方志」，乃是相對於傳統方言而言。「新方志」應有「新的內容」、「新的方法」、「新的體例」，此三項指標是傳統方志所未具備的。 根據本文的研究，楊家駱主修的《北碚九志》，其各篇章節標題與內容，均有別於傳統方志的纂修，極具創意；其結合不同領域的學者專家，以科學論文方式撰寫方志的試驗，均為難得的特色。此種創意與特色，是同時代其他「新方志」所無法比擬的。 楊家駱主修《北碚九志》，建立方志纂修的新模式，開方志體例先河，足為未來方志軌範，對中國方志學的創新貢獻極大。

The so-called “New Topographical Records” is the opposite of “Traditional Topographical Records”. The “New Topographical Records” contains new coverage, new research approaches and new structures, which are there major characters that differentiated “New Topographical Records” from “Traditional Topographical Records”. Based on the research in this thesis, the “Pai-pei Nine topographical Records” edited by Prof. yang Chia-lo is the representative for the “New topographical Records” type of study. In “Pai-pei Nine topographical Records”, Porf. Yang constructed that by utilizing scientific analysis, structured heading, and consolidating points of view from different study fields. By the “Pai-pei Nine topographical Records”, Prof. yang had conducted a new way for future research in Topography, which is a great contribution to Chinese topography.
