The political geography and regional economies of Asia are
changing. Countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, North
Korea, India, and the nations of Southeast Asia must continually respond
to the challenge of constantly shifting strategic goals for regional
economic and national security. Due to these changes, Taiwan needs new
approach and a fresh perspective in order to adequately face these
challenges. This article discusses the current socio-economic- political
situation of these Asian countries, and with sustainable regional peace as
the final goal, provides policy suggestions for Taiwan, based upon its
current political and economic position.
