台港推理小說採用了大量的邏輯推理知識，尤其是推理方法中的歸納推理、演繹推理、回溯推理。台港兩地的推理小說在運用這些推理方法時雖然有共通點，但是更能吸引讀者的是他們所選用的具體推理方式各有側重。大致而言，在歸納推理中，臺灣推理小說更側重於不完全歸納推理；香港推理小說更側重於完全歸納推理。在演繹推理中，臺灣推理小說更側重於關係推理；香港推理小說更側重於直接推理和三段論。在回溯推理中，臺灣推理小說更側重於複雜式回溯推理；香港推理小說更側重於簡單式回溯推理。
