Policies to develop the service industry have long existed in both Korea and Taiwan. Korean government has recently made an announcement of a Service R & D Promotion Program. Korea's program consists of 6 themes. It covers weather, transportation, health care, tourism, food security, disaster prevention, Internet crime prevention as well as new business models. On the other hand, Taiwanese government launched its Service Industry Promotion Program in 2009, Taiwan's program consists of 10 themes, It covers gourmet , medical, music, digital content, Mandarin e-commerce, logistics, exhibition, urban reshape, Wimax as well as higher education. In order to facilitate future service industry, Korean government assigned the Committee of National Science and Technology to preside over the enforcement of Service R & D Promotion Program. Taiwan should learn from Korea and assign a special agency to take charge of its Service Industry Promotion Program.
