In 1924, Zhang Wo-Jun appeared in Taiwan literary circles, raised discussion on controversy of modern and historical literature, and published the first collection of new poems: ”In War City Love” in Taiwan. He was the soul when scholars discuss the origin of Taiwan's new poems. The trend of Chinese new literary thoughts he brought was also looked as the source of Taiwan's new poems. However, Before Zhang Wo-Jun, the trend of Japanese and Chinese new literary thoughts had already entered Taiwan. Japanese and Chinese new poems also appeared on print media. This essay examines those discourses and poems, and brings up an idea that Taiwan's new poems appeared due to Japanese and Chinese twofold influence. First, this essay introduces Japan's new poems and speaking matching writing movement, China's poetic revolution and vernacular movement, and how they formed their own new poetic type. Then, introduces how Taiwan's print media accepted those thoughts, and probes what the early appearance of Taiwan's new poems were.
