研究關注數位新科技發展下，「傳統媒體發展的網路媒體」及「原生網路媒體」編輯之新聞守門行為。 透過文獻探討、深度訪談及親身參與觀察等方式發現，「原生網路媒體」以市場需求，讀者導向為主，新聞編輯主要為「抓取」新聞，「守門」角色已淡化。「傳統媒體發展的網路媒體」仍受傳統報業組織影響。 研究者認為，電子報的網路新聞，傳播穿透性及滲入性更大。無論「傳統媒體發展的網路媒體」或「原生網路媒體」都仍應扮演新聞守門人的角色。

The research focuses on the gatekeeping behavior of news editing in both “ internet media developed through traditional media ” and “internet originated media” under the new digital technology development. Through literature, in-depth interviews, personal participation and observation, it is discovered that the “internet originated media” responds mainly to market demand and is more reader-oriented. The purpose of news editing is to “capture” news and its “gatekeeper” role has weakened. The “internet media developed through traditional media” remains to be influenced by the traditional newspaper organization. The researchers believe that online newspapers are more powerful in communication in terms of penetration and infiltration . Both “ internet media developed through traditional media ” and “internet originated media” should play the role of a news gatekeeper.
