從事數位出版的業者所面對的產業型態,從產業經濟和經營模式的角度來看,是一個結合內容供應商與媒體平台提供者的雙邊市場(two-sided market)。有鑑於當前相關於數位出版的討論仍著重於技術規格或媒體載具等發展方向,本研究認為數位出版產業的電子書裝置業者若將自己視為平台廠商來思考的話,其經營模式可歸納為以下六點:(1)鼓勵並協助具公益性的數位化典藏。(2)透過策略聯盟、合資等方式來豐富數位內容。(3)以免費或低價搭配電子書內容等方式來擴大電子書裝置的市場。(4)採用開放式技術規格,建立可跨裝置瀏覽下載後的數位內容。(5)建構讀者分享經驗的網路平台。(6)協助保障現有和潛在作者之作品與衍生產品的相關權利。
The newly development of digital publishing brings up a new opportunity for content providers and platform operators. This study discusses the business model of digital publishing industry through a two-sided market perspective. The development of such idea is examined through theoretical arguments. Future research directions and implications are also included.
