Among all literary genres, biographical memoirs are the works that bear important historical referential value, making up the insufficiencies of our times and history. This is also the reason why the writings of both personal essays and biographical memoirs have been flourishing in recent years. Traces Left in the Snowfield, a memoir collectively written by scholars from Macau and Mainland China, can be considered as the new representative of memoir literature in Macau regarding its literary charm and historical value. With ten authors narrating the experiences they ’ve suffered, this book is not only a reflection of personal sufferings and changes of times, but also a mirror from which we get a glimpse of history and warnings for humanity.
