本研究在檢視高階管理團隊特性對企業國際化活動的影響,針對新興市場企業的特性,從高階管理團隊的國際化經驗與異質性,探討其對國際化廣度與國際化速度兩種國際化活動的影響。以臺灣上市上櫃504家電子產業公司為研究對象,研究結果發現,國際化經驗有助於增加國際化廣度與國際化速度,教育背景異質性有助於提升國際化廣度,而功能背景異質性則會對國際化速度有負面影響。本研究之貢獻在於從國際化廣度與國際化速度檢視新興市場企業的國際化型態,並由此了解高階管理團隊特性如何驅動此兩種國際化活動。
This study examined the effects of top management team (TMT) characteristics on firm internationalization. According to the features of firms in emerging markets, we examined the effects of international experience and heterogeneity on internationalization in terms of the scope and speed of internationalization. Based on a sample of 504 Taiwanese listed electronic firms, we found that international experience is positively related to the scope and speed of internationalization. Moreover, educational background heterogeneity is positively related to the scope of internationalization, and functional background heterogeneity is negatively related to the speed of internationalization, respectively. This study contributes by investigating the internationalization patterns of firms in emerging markets based on the scope and speed of internationalization. It also demonstrates how TMT characteristics drive these two international activities.
