　　　　　This paper attempts to review and critize an important proposition of dependency theory. That is, recruiting advanced technology form transnational corporations (TNGs) of developed countries will cause technology dependence in less-developed countries (LDCs). Firstly, we present Frank’s development of underdevelopment theory and Galtung’s structural theory of imperialism for understanding basic framework of dependency theory. Then, Dos Santos’ new dependency, Sunkel & Fuenzalida’s transnational capitalism, and Evans’ dependent development are reviewed to confirms the above proposition. In the second section, we explain how does TNC’s manipulating channels of technology transfer to prompt technology dependence in LDCs. Thirdly, statist model and some international control systems are reviewed to criticize dependency theory overemphasizing on external factors for causing technology dependence in LDCs. But finally, this paper concludes that TNCs are still important force in international political-economic system. Leaders in LDCs still should pay much attention to negative effects which possibly caused by TNCs-led development strategies.
