The Center for Electronic Texts in the Humanities (CETH) was established by Rutgers and Princeton Universities to provide a national focus for all who are involved in the creation, dissemination and use of Electronic Texts in the Humanities. This article is aimed at exploring the issue of development and activities of CETH. The author also intends to compare the relations of the CETH, TEI, and SGML, to discover the problems of Electronic Texts encoding.
