Note is a kind of literature that relatively numerous and jumbled in content and relatively
loose in form. The exact number of notes in the past dynasties are unable to ascertain, but the
number of notes in Qing Dynasty is indeed exceeded its previous dynasties. These notes contain
materials in many ways available for selection and adoption, nevertheless they have not been valued
by the scholars. The author has read a few hundred of such kind of notes in Qing Dynasty, and has
written abstracts according to the traditional form of entries, with their titles, volumes, editions,
bibliographies of writers and the value of historical data, etc. There published four selected paper
for the readers reference, and take advantage of this opportunity to bring to the scholars attention on
such an historical resource.
