　　　　　網際網路存在於學術界已多年，直到近五年，美國圖書館界才開始普遍應用網際 網路資源，以提昇其技術服務及讀者服務之效率和品質。本文分析美國學術圖書館及公共圖 書館利用網際網路的現況及其影響，最後並提出兩個建議方案，使圖書館界加速迎接資訊時 代虛擬圖書館的來臨。
　　　　　The Internet has been existing in the academic society for years. However, until the last five years, the library community in the States began to recognize the untilization of Internet resources is essential to provide better technical and public services to their patrons. This article analyzes the situations and impacts of academic and public libraries' use of Internet resources. At the end, the author proposes two suggestions to accelerate the achievement of the virtual library in the information age.
