　　　　　This paper examines the possibility of a Confucian humanism providing a cultural ground for the healthy development of democracy in Taiwan and China. China, Taiwan, and other Chinese communities could together formulate a "Cultural China" on the basis of a shared Confucian humanism an dother cultural ingredients. Having such a basis does not mean that the cultural texture of the mainland will be identical to that of Taiwan. Furthermore, although cultural identity may overlap with political identity, the two are not necessarily identical. The author argues that an admission of a Cultural China does not deny they possibility of multiple political identities.
