According to the current literature, studies of the Chinese Communist Party’s(CCP) press policy have shown a persistent interest in a journalism perspective rather than a politics angle. Two topics are still quite popular:specific press policies and research on the transition of policies. On press content policy, most domestic researchers prefer a macro explanation framework, and few study policies of specific issues. On media management policy, researchers tend to explore particular periods with a historical angle. On media personnel policy, researchers focus more on journalistic practices and the effects of policies. On foreign-related press policy, researchers are inclined to discuss policy efficiency through specific acts.On the whole transition of the CCP’s press policy, researchers show more interest in similarities and differences among historical stages.Yet there are still issues unexplored:First,a thorough examination of press policy contexts that show the delicate continuation and change over a long period.Second,an exploration into the policy-making process that shows how new policies are made to replace old ones.Third,an evaluation system of the efficiency and influence of the CCP’s press policy;Fourth, research that fills the blank in some historical periods.
