How emerging technology is applied to serve human beings well is an important issue in the introduce of management of technology always. The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) industry has become more complete due to mature "Cloud", "Internet” and " Device" technologies. Mass storage equipment with high reliability becomes virtual brain of human beings with great wisdom and high speed data transmission 5G age is coming soon. How to enable users to use IoT devices in the application naturally becomes a challenge for infrastructure maker, smart device developers, and ecosystem participants in IoT industry.
The difference between quantitative and qualitative research methods comes from researchers' views on research ontology. However, it has been sunken gradually in recent years. Research in the field of management focused on the interaction between complex social phenomena and emerging industries and better result of it comes out due to mixed-methods approach obviously. This study is for IoT device of telehealthcare in Taiwan’s society using a mixed-methods approach combined with “Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)" and " user journey mapping ". Questionnaire survey and quantitative analysis were conducted with the UTAUT model and we summarized the user interviews qualitatively in parallel.
Results: (1) The quantitative analysis revealed that (i) effort expectancy and relatives
significantly influenced users’ behavior intentions, (ii) error and memorability significantly affected users’ satisfaction, and intention and satisfaction significantly affected users’ behavior. (2)The qualitative analysis revealed two key implications. (i) participants generally were not satisfied with the telehealthcare device. (ii) participants suggested the redesign of the telehealthcare device to reduce operating errors and time consumption to meet users’ needs. The results show that the " Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)" and the " user journey mapping " are consistent in the key factors of the IoT device introduced into the application of telehealthcare.
