The main purposes of this study were to explore the interactive relationships among junior high school students’ mathematics learning interest, learning emotions, learning engagement and learning achievement, and further to examine a path model of these variables. The participants in this study were 1,032 junior high school students in Taiwan. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, one-way MANOVA and SEM.
The main findings of this study were as follows:
1. The Mathematics Learning Interest Scale developed in this study has good reliability and validity.
2. Mathematics learning interest has a direct impact on learning achievement.
3. The effects of learning interest on learning achievement were mediated by learning emotions.
4. The effects of learning interest on learning achievement were mediated by learning engagement.
5. Junior high school students' learning interest, learning emotions and learning engagement will positively influence their learning achievement.
Finally, the researcher proposed some suggestions for mathematics education and future research.
