The major topic of the thesis is mainly about “City” and “Memory”, which are also the key points of this creative research on Eastern Gouache. In order to inherit the traditional culture and also search for new possibilities on presentation of Eastern Gouache in Taiwan, the author attempts to break the old model of presentation and refers to “the Creative Thinking of Modern Art” in his research. Hope the research results would be helpful on promoting Eastern Gouache to be part of the Modern Art.
In addition to the imageries of “City” and “Memory”, the author tried to develop a new aspect of contemporary Eastern Gouache from the context of western and eastern art history. The author’s ideas of creation such as “Vague Aesthetics” and “Imagery of Light” are the bases of artistic presentation which includes the uses of “the Imagery of Space” and “the Concept of Color”. Furthermore, the author adopts the ideas of Deconstruction, Misappropriation and Simplicity on artistic creation. In order to give it a new model to present Eastern Gouache, the author analyzes and generalizes the major concepts “City” and “Memory” that are displayed on his own creation and he also reviews the value of the position of his own art work in the development of Eastern Gouache in Taiwan’s art history. Hope to present the unique and specific style of painting as well as to highlight the cultural value of Eastern Gouache.
