The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of the family environment on entrepreneurial intentions. The sample examined was seven young entrepreneurs in Taiwan. The main research method followed by the qualitative research method. This case study contains semi-structured in-depth interviews. Besides, we followed the coding method of ground theory to analyze verbatim drafts. There were three core categories, seven subcategories, and sixteen concepts in this study were sorted out. Overall, the family environment factors which can affect respondents’ entrepreneurial intentions include three core categories. First core category is Parental conditions: including two subcategories (economic status, and parental background) and five concepts. Second core category is Family atmosphere (environment): including two subcategories (cohesion, contradiction) and five concepts. The third core category is Parenting methods: including three subcategories (encouragement, stander and relaxing) and six concepts.
Most of the discussions on family environment factors belonged to the field of pedagogy, and there are few integrated discussions with the field of management, and the research on entrepreneurship seldom involves the discussion of family environment. As a result of this study, we hope to fill this lack of research and provide advice on entrepreneurship education to the government, schools, families and individuals.
