Maintaining proper mental health is crucial for modern life. Leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) has been reported for its positive benefit on happiness, but the optimal cutoff values and the effect size were less discussed. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the optimal LTPA participating frequency and duration for happiness and associated effect sizes. An integrated model of ROC curve and binary logistic regression analysis has applied for the 2018 physical activity annual survey in Taiwan. Data from a total of 11,163 respondents were used. Results from the ROC analyses indicated that the optimal LTPA frequency was at least one time per week, and the optimal LTPA participating duration was at least 31 minutes per time. After confounders adjustment, the logistic regression analyses pointed out that the odds ratios for LTPA frequency and duration were 1.528 and 1.282 (p < .001), respectively. Besides, the confounder adjustments indicated that the self-reported health status and occupation type might influence LTPA-relationship much. The possible mechanisms were discussed and warranted further investigation.
