This paper reports the results of a study of access problems and issues related to electronic journalscurrently found on the TANet. Data are reported on the accuracy of directory information, the accessibilityof electronic journals articles, the status of electronic journals archives, methods used to retrieve currentand back issues, and the variety of data formats used by electronic journals. The findings illustrate thepractical issues that can arise when users attempt to retrieve the texts of electronic publications and theimplications for academic and research libraries are considered.
