This research is to compare the difference in fitness between two six-grade groups ofelementary school: the students from school basketball team (Group 1) and those fromcommon classes (Group 2), genders considered. In Group 1, there are 10 male and 12female students. In Group 2, there are 10 male and 10 female students. Eleven tests aretaken: Modified Sit-and-Reach Test, Shuttle Run (10M X 4), Sixty-Meter Dash,Eight-Hundred-Meter Run-Walk Test, Burpee Test, Modified Pull ups, 1-minute flexed-legsit-up test. Dynamometer Test, Harvard Step Test, Vertical Jump, and Standing Long Jump. The result shows p < .05. The fitness of Group 1 is obviously better than that of the othergroup. Only in the two tests. Modified Sit-and-Reach Test and Burpee Test, there isn'tsignificant difference. The male students from both groups show no significant difference onlyin four tests: Modified Sit-and-Reach Test, Burpee Test, Modified Pull ups, andDynamometer Test. In the other tests, the performance of male students in Group 1 is better. The female students from both groups show no significant difference also in four tests: weight,Modified Sit-and-Reach Test, Burpee Test, and 1-minute flexed-leg sit-up test. In the othertests, the performance of the female students in Group 1 is better. We do suggest theemphasis on flexiability and all-body compatibility to reduce the frequency of sport damage.
