The aim of the study is to implement the ship designers, their capability of managing the noise and vibration control. The methods for prediction and reduction of structure-borne sound transmitted by engine and propeller into ships' hull have been investigated and developed. The focus of attention in centered on the prediction of vibration velocity levels of engines and propeller seating structure and hull plates in the vicinity of engine and propeller, based on engine data, concerning vibration levels and structural properties, supplied by the engine manufacturer. Also the definition of appropriate source data and measurement procedures have been treated.
