The article discusses the intention fo composing Chung Yuan Yin Yun from the view of Yuan Chu's development history; on this basis, it also reconsiders a controversial issue of “Ju Pai San Sheng”. Under this background, the article proposes that the purpose of the compilation is to instruct literati whose ancestral registers are in the South China how to compose Pei Chu with classical rhyme. When it comes to “Yin Yun Wu Ju Sheng”, “Pai Ju Ping Shang Chu San Shen” (音韻無入聲,派入平上去三聲) described in the book, it means “Chung Yuan Cheng Yin”. There is Ju Sheng between speaking and breathing, which refers to “Chiang Nan Feng Yin”.
