Most of Ou Yang Xiu's "Gu Wen" are written on Han yu's model, except Ou Yang's unique "prefaces" to other writers' collections of poems and other writings. In this paper, I will analyze Ou Yang's texts of the sub -genre in detail, and then discuss the features of his pattern mainly in two aspects: depicting those intended authors' personalities and expressing Ou Yang's own self. In addition, the texts of the same sub -genre by Ou Yang's precedent writers, since Han yu and Liu zong -yuan, will be surveyed in order to prove that he has created a distinctively aesthetic style; the fact that since later until Southern Song dynasty, Ou Yang's pattern has been followed by so many writers also demonstrates that it has grown into a significant literary paradigm within the category of "Gu Wen".
