Firefighting is one of the major missions for fire departments. To keep a minimum lives and property loss in a fire, the sufficient amount of water resource for fire suppression is the least and the key condition among the factors influencing firefighting. However, the related researches mostly focus on the theorem development or lab experiment due to the difficulty of detail field data collection. it is not easy to have an intensive exploration for water volume consuming during reported fire cases. The experienced judgment or the official regulation rules for water volume are usually adopted to provide as an initial uses in most of the dispatching cases. A research to estimate the water volume for fire suppression based on Heat Releasing Rate was proposed in this study. Two local reported fire cases at Taoyuan County were investigated in details to analyze the suitability of the proposed algorithm. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm is capable of predicting the trend of water demand regarding the percentage of difference between estimation an observation is about 25-27%.
