As theories developed from cognitivc psychology havc only been partially acceptcd and applied in the field of linguistics, it has limited the contributions that cognitive learning theories could make to linguistics. This papcr attempts to investigate the theoretical applicability of cognitive learning theories to the research of language acquisition and language learning strategics in particular. Arguments and conceptual collisions from both fields arc presented and analyzed based on literature review. Through logical comparison and deductive reasoning, the author intends to validate a solid interface between cognitive and linguistic disciplines.
